Quotable Quotes

You think I'm an arrogant bastard who thinks he's above the law,
and I think you're a slime bucket who gets most of his facts wrong.

~ Steve Jobs Abdulfattah John Jandali (1955~2011)

  1. I've been using Apple I-phone & I-pad for quite sometime. Though it is another issue to explore whether the arrival of such contraptions to communicate have actually increased human communication or intensified the loneliness, it is cute to use these devices. It was because of persons like Steve Jobs who had been instrumental to design and sell it successfully in the marke, that we enjoy life much better. The feeling of touching the screen rather than the need to push the buttons are starkly different and it makes the whole experience interesting. These mobile phones have become toys to adults, thanks to inventors like Steve Jobs. It is surprising to note the Muslim full name of him, which was not widely known, like many controversial facets of his biography.
    R.I.P. Steve Jobs!

  2. Absolutely, Quotable quotes are impressive that you have posted!

Death is very likely the single best invention of life – Steve Jobs.

The death of acclaimed personality and creative genius is a great loss to us and our future generation too.

Let us pray for his soul rest in peace.

  3. True genius are made of stuff like Steve. More than I-pad, I-pod, I-phone, I-tunes etc., I-love Steve for his grit and determination. And the way he has faced life. And the way he bid goodbye to it. He, in life as well as death, has become APPLE of so many eyes. The Apple he produced may not last as long as one of Eve and Newton but has a long shelf life. May his soul drink HIS apple-juice aka divine nectar.

  4. Of course. No doubt dat all da souls departed from da earth shud rest in peace. Without haunting again too fast. Sipping divine apple juice or mundane draught beer. Depending upon da destination : heaven or hell. And, dey shud take a very long break, before being reborn!

After President Obama's mourning speech on Steve Jobs, da next amusing obituary on dis dead man (may long live his soul without cursing me from heaven or hell!) is from dis blogger & dhese commentators, i shud say.

But i shud add : it is all too horrendously pathetic & too pitiably shallow!

Wat did dis fellow invent, which is making all of u to brag & elevate him to a place equivalent to Einstein or Newton? He had obtained a few patents for silly stuff like some computers, speakers, adapters, keyboards, etc. Nothing else. At best he was just another successful American entrepreneur. Since da sagging American imagination needs timely prop-ups, such fellows have been magnified beyond deir actual worth by da massified media & everyone else starts yapping!

    Yuk. Yuk.

He disowned his Muslim biological father forever & his own daughter born out an earlier relationship (trying to certify himself as infertile!) for a long time. And he disowned his guru Neem Karoli Baba for whom he came in search of in da Himalayas, during his earlier jerky counterculture days. B'coz he made a few billions (yet another boring rags to riches story!) he became so arrogant (which he had cleverly acknowledged) dat he yapped, Edison did a lot more to improve da world dan Karl Marx & Neem Karoli Baba put together.

    Wat folly!
    But da idiots clapped!

Da fellow had made a 'bitten-Apple' as da symbol of his company. It seems to be b'coz, his erstwhile guru Neem Karoli Baba used to give his disciples, apples, as prasada! But da guy cud never get one in dis birth from his already departed guru. He went back to America more disillusioned with poor pick-pocketers in India than with any acquired wisdom. Such petty firangi experience of getting pick-pocketed had later on made him an interestingly cranky but very miserly billionaire.

Da best obit was from Richard Stallman, da pioneer of free software, who had aptly remarked : "Steve Jobs, da pioneer of da computer as a jail made cool, designed to sever fools from deir freedom, has died!"

    Let fools bewake!

  5. Extremely interesting comments from MotorMouth. I was going along with the flow but MM has clearly made me rethink. But still i can't be so harsh to a man who didn't blink in face of impending death. In this way he has actually followed the way shown by Himalayan Saints (Incl. Neem Karoli Baba). Also he was quite hands-on till the very end. In his situation, many of us incl. propably MM would lose the very incentive to work. Therefore, we can very well forgive Steve, the gadget salesman. And instead appreciate, Steve, the determined soul.

  6. Then Jesus said, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do".

    (Luke 23:34)

And he said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise".

    (Luke 23:43)

Jesus saw his own mother, and the disciple standing near whom he loved, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold your son". Then he said to the disciple, "Behold your mother". And from that hour, he took his mother into his family.

    (John 19:26-27)

And at the ninth hour, Jesus shouted in a loud voice, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?"

    (Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34)

    He said, "I thirst".

    (John 19:28)

    Jesus said, "It is finished".

    (John 19:30)

And speaking in a loud voice, Jesus said, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit".

    (Luke 23:46)

    Amen!

Steve Jobs came to the first Apple Halloween party dressed as Jesus. That was his level of egomania. Like many Hollywood actors, he too claimed to have become a Buddhist. That does not interest me. What interests me are his sensual designs on screen. And his statement that his LSD experiences were one of the two or three most important things he had done in his life! Nothing else is of any significance to me. Including his struggle with life during his last days after he was diagnosed with cancer in his pancreas. If one happens to read Siddhartha Mukherjee's opus "The Emperor Of All Maladies : A Biography Of Cancer", one can discover more heroic and much more illumninating tales of human beings struggling to survive with one of the most dreaded dieseses of nature. Now, after his death at 56, let us give the devil its due, without any hang-ups. But for Christ's sake, let us not treat him like a dead messiah and resurrect him unnecessarily, without bestowing due respect to more humbler and nobler lives on earth.

  7. What a provocatively funny pseudonym is this "MotorMouth"?! It sounds like Chris in a new avatar. Whoever it is, let me thank you Sri Sri "MM" Ji for filling the critical space of Chris, whom we missed a lot, of late.

I completely agree with Pankaj that the comments of MM on Steve Jobs and his contribution has made me to rethink in a new perspective. Often we get carried away with the media distorted images of the good, bad and the ugly. This case seems to be no exception.

The 7 Sayings of Jesus Christ on the Cross during his crucifixion, collected from the four canonical Gospels, have been appropriately quoted by MM. They form an important element in the Christian meditative practice.

May be, had Steve Jobs met his desired Guru Neem Karoli Baba, his life would have become more nobler and humbler, with an equal productivity as he had accomplished and gone away. This might be a conundrum caused by the designs of Kali Yuga! For, who knows what the strange ways of God are?

  8. Pallavi is absolutely correct. MM sounds like Chris in a new avatar. They may be one and the same. Who knows?

  9. Does it matter, my fond lass and my dear lad, the identity?

Don't you know what a great lady, Gertrude Stein, had once said, "A Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose"?!

It would, by all names, smell as sweet!

  10. Death is a death is a death is a death...

    That's all.

Until that each and every moment is Life.

End of the life nothing will be counted except the result of your work which is acclaimed by other than you.

Quotes are always get attracted as its carrying the hard core experience of the concern which gives insight and elavates the everyone's life.

  11. Is the rose self-concious of its sweet smell? If it is, would it smell as sweet?

  12. I doubt if Albert Einstein had actually said that. Be careful in choosing these quotes. Internet is full of hoaxes

  13. All said and done I admire Steve Jobs for having the zest for life amidst death staring straight at his face. And that is well captured in the first quote. What he invented or added to the list of gadgets that world is going crazy about are all secondary. It is for this equanimity that I salute him. The rest is all humbug.

And I agree with Anonymous that Einstein probably would not have stated that quote for Einstein looks too sweet a person for all that to me!
